Proof of a valid health insurance has to be submitted as original and as one copy. Originals are handed back after evaluation. The proof of the valid health insurance has to be carried along for possible controls during every stay in the Schengen territory In case of applications for long term Schengen visas which are valid for several entries, it is generally sufficient to furnish proof of sufficient health insurance for the complete duration of the first stay. Family members (spouses, children under the age of 21) of nationals of a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, who travel together with the EU or EEA-citizen, generally do not have to furnish proof of a valid health insurance.
